It will not come as a surprise then if Mazzoni decided to invest in some land in the Sibari Plain where, thanks to the knowledge and professionalism of operators, innovative agronomic techniques and varieties were developed.

Mazzoni's orchards cover almost 600 hectares and produce early, medium and late varieties from mid-May to late September.
"50% of our production is sold on the domestic market, mainly to retailers. The remaining 50% goes to Northern Europe, mainly Scandinavia and Germany. Logistics is therefore an essential requisite," explains sales manager Sergio Trevisan.
Producer companies hold the GlobalGAP certification and comply with the Integrated production regulations of Regione Calabria. Packaging and stocking are managed in BRC and IFR-certified facilities equipped with hydro-coolers and cold storage units to maintain the organoleptic qualities of the produce unaltered not only during stocking but also during transport.
"The flavour and unique aroma of produce from Calabria is due to a specific combination of soil and weather characteristics and it represents an added value that should be recognised in terms of price. Consumers are looking for authentic flavours and, when a grower can deliver, he should be rewarded accordingly. We have decided to focus less on special offers and more on the promotion of the benefits of Italian fruit and vegetables."
