Polymer Logistics and Walmart elaborate on partnership

Introduction of innovative wood grain crate

At the United Fresh show in Chicago last week, Polymer Logistics introduced the latest innovation in reusable plastic containers (RPCs), the wood grain crate. Walmart has signed a long-term agreement with Polymer Logistics to phase the crates into their stores.

Visual impact
According to Dorn Wenninger with Walmart, “this crate is virtually the same as the crates that are currently being used in our stores. It’s the same footprint and the same reverse logistics. However, the visual impact is different.” In the past few years, Walmart has been working on making a change in the quality of produce it sells. “This crate demonstrates that we are different. We love the appearance and it helps us focus on the customer experience,” said Wenninger.

Crates phased in gradually
“We have tested the crates in Northwest Arkansas in multiple stores. The feedback from our customers and associates has been very positive and that is most important to me.” The wood grain crates will be phased in gradually, “but ultimately I hope to see this RPC in all of my stores,” said Wenninger.

Game changer in RPC industry
Walmart initiated the conversations with Polymer Logistics about a year ago. “Polymer was the only company that came to us with this type of design,” declared Wenninger. “From the first day I saw it, I personally believed this was a positive step and a game changer in the RPC industry. I salute Polymer for creating innovation and I am confident that they will be an important partner for us in the coming years.”

“We are very happy to work together with Walmart,” said Gideon Feiner from Polymer Logistics. “The look in the store will help move the product and associates will be more engaged. Together, we made it happen.” Both companies have great confidence in the success of the wood grain crate.
