Company meeting demand for ripe, ready-to-eat

As a fully integrated fresh produce business, Halls is ideally positioned to meet the rising demand for the ripe and ready-to-eat formats. More so now with Halls’ recently completed expansion of ripening facilities in France and addition of operational capacity in Rotterdam.

Following the recent growth of the Halls RIPE Range in Europe, Halls is currently looking to further develop sales in the UK. The Halls team is working with their end-consumer trade partners in offering trial volumes to promote sales and establish trust in the importance of the ripened concept of “buy with your eyes and return with your taste buds”.

The Halls RIPE Range is presented in a variety of retail-ready formats, headlined with a highly attractive carton for instant impact on trade stands and on the shelf. The Halls RIPE Range encompasses avocado and mango – with new additions to the format in the pipeline. Each fruit is individually branded, communicating directly to the consumer that it is indeed ready to eat.

Halls has been involved with ripe-and-ready processing for many years but more recently the expansion of the international warehouses and ripening facilities in Rungis and Rotterdam consolidates Halls’ position as one of the key specialist suppliers of subtropical produce to the wholesale and retail trade. Halls’ supply of the RIPE Range fruit is sourced from Halls’ own farms as well as from its select grower partners around the world to ensure a year-round supply of quality produce. Halls’ grower partner origins are notably: South Africa, Kenya (the Kakuzi Estate), Peru, Brazil, Chile, Tanzania, Columbia and Morocco.

Celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, Halls has over 1,800 ha of orchards under management in South Africa with operations in the key locations of United Kingdom, Rungis, Marseille and the Netherlands, facilitating Halls’ participation in every link in the value chain from farming and sourcing to packing, ripening and marketing.
