In 2014 about 21,669 metric tons of asparagus were imported to Germany. The main part of the asparagus is imported from Peru. With 92.9% the South American country is ahead of the European countries such as Spain and Greece quo volumes.
Every German eats on average about 1.5 kg asparagus per person per year. Especially white asparagus are loved by the German consumers.
And now the first white mini asparagus of the brand "Nature's Pride" from Peru were discovered in a Real,- supermarket in near Bonn. 200 gram of the best, ready-to-eat quality asparagus are sold for 2.99 Euros.
According to Nature's Pride website the white asparagus should be available until September.
