This was made possible by the constant commitment of SmileSys, always at work to design innovative and sustainable solutions for flexible packaging, and by the extensive experience of partner companies Besana, European leader on the dried fruit market, and Bioplast, specialising in the printing of plastic films for packaging.
The prize was also won thanks to the help of Ritrama, an Italian multinational producing self-adhesive material and the only company in the world authorised to produce the special adhesive patented by SmileSys.
The close cooperation of this network of Italian companies enabled the development of the PET/adhesive combination most suitable for technical applications and providing a sustainable alternative that contributes to the creation of increasingly-recyclable films.
The solution is made up of two layers of polyester film that are separated during opening. The lower layer remains sealed to the packet and works to prevent crumbs from getting out. The upper layer is lifted thanks to the tab.
The special adhesive, suitable to come into contact with food, can be perfectly re-closed dozens of time, thus avoiding the waste of food due to the deterioration of the product once the packet has been opened.
The increased awareness of consumers on the impact everyday objects have on the environment is leading companies to develope increasingly eco-compatible packaging solutions with the objective of guaranteeing a healthier world to future generations.
