Minicamp to be launched to the market this month
Hydroponic agriculture is already possible at home
This month, a new hydroponic cultivation system will be launched which will make it possible to cultivate a wide range of fresh vegetables or flowers for decoration at home.
It is called MINICAMP, developed by the company NGS, which is devoted to the development and manufacture of advanced solutions for high performance horticulture.
MINICAMP consists of a hydroponic cultivation table which doesn't need any kind of substrate, as the nutrients needed by the plants are supplied by means of a closed loop system that goes through a tank containing the nutrient solution; the nutrients then go through the crop lines feeding the root system and return to the deposit by gravity back into the tank.
"Assembling it is very simple and, once built, it's just up to us to decide what we're going to grow," explains Carla Ramos, of the Export Department at NGS.
"Given that it doesn't use substrate, it is a clean system, suitable to have at home. Also, irrigation is controlled automatically and does not require any physical effort to treat the soil."
"You can cultivate without having to rely on the weather, as the nutrients are in continuous recirculation. Furthermore, it saves a considerable amount of water, since it is a closed loop system," he adds.
According to Carla Ramos, this mini system of hydroponic farming makes it possible to have an orchard or garden at home without the need for extensive knowledge in agriculture and can be adapted to any type of space, producing also in the off-season thanks to the precocity of the plants' growth.
MINICAMP is intended for crops such as vegetables (lettuce, chard, spinach, celery, etc.), herbs (mint, peppermint, thyme, parsley, cilantro, chamomile, etc.) or flowering plants (carnation, gerbera, etc.).
"The whole family can become involved in the use of this simple system, which makes MINICAMP a very advantageous product that allows for the cultivation of both edible and ornamental crops in an easy and environmentally friendly way."
