Fresh Market Warsaw 2016 draws more international visitors

The Polish market has found itself at a crossroads in recent years and the Fresh Market Warsaw 2016, held last Friday (23 Sept.), seemed to also show these changes. Historically a mostly Polish conference, many visitors commented that they had noticed a big shift in types of visitors and a much stronger international presence.

The event is set up slightly differently than the average show, a big part of its draw is that there is a retailers area where it is possible to make appointments to speak one on one with buyers in the Merchant's Trade Centre. Each meeting lasted 10 minutes and gave visitors the opportunity to present their goods to fruit and vegetable buyers.

Along with the retailer's meetings, there was a stand area, networking opportunities, along with discussion panels, which were held throughout the day for visitors with subjects such as "What to do without Russia", looking to the West for trade, and the effects of the embargo on the market. There was also a look at the domestic market and the organic market.

Companies also had the opportunity to enter for the Fresh Market Award–Product of the Year 2016. There were two ways of winning, by internet vote and visitors were also given the opportunity to vote by ballot. The Natural Juice 100% Royal Apple from Activ Sp z.o.o. in a PET can, was the winner at the event and Cristobal Meseguer won the internet vote for their MPaper packaging.
