Bruno clementines already available for export

"Morocco: "We expect between 25 and 30% less citrus"

Morocco has started harvesting and selling citrus in the international market with its early clementine varieties, such as the Bruno. This campaign, the weather conditions have not been ideal, because it has not rained enough. That is why "we expect our citrus production to fall by between 25% and 30% compared to last year," explains Issam Mounir, of the company Overseas Market. According to its estimates, the Moroccan firm expects to have about 500 tonnes of this clementine variety, and although this is less than last year, "we can say that production is gradually increasing under the government's Maroc Vert program, thanks to which the acreage is expanding."

As is usually the case every year, the price of Bruno clementines is high at the start, amounting to about $ 0.9 per kilo, and then falls as more production hits the market, not only because of the fruit supplied by Moroccan growers, but also due to the arrival of the early Turkish and Spanish varieties that compete against them.

In any case, this Moroccan company also has other products. Its range includes Orogrande, Clemenules and Valencia oranges, among others, which are traditionally marketed in the US, Europe, the Middle East and the rest of Africa. "We export 100% of the production of the producers we work with."
