Spike in production, stable quality

Chinese chestnuts exports ready to storm the European market

"Chestnuts are a seasonal crop, and under regular weather conditions the growing season starts every year around September and concludes before the Chinese Spring Festival. Throughout the country this growing season is already drawing to a close. In comparison with 2016, the export price of chestnuts in 2017 dropped by 5% or so. The main reason for this price drop is the slight increase in production volume." This is according to Mr. Sun Chengyong, the general manager of Qingdao Sino-World International Trading.

"We own two processing factories in the main chestnut growing areas in Liaoning and Shandong. Apart from chestnuts, we also process various kinds of refrigerated vegetable products. The potential annual processing volume of our factories lies between 6,000 tons and 7,000 tons. The chestnut products we produce predominantly pass through Dalian harbor and Qingdao harbor for export to The United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, and European countries. The superiority of Chinese chestnuts on overseas markets has been obvious for many years. This superiority stems from two aspects: first, China constitutes a favorable, natural environment for growing chestnuts. The total output of Chinese chestnuts accounts for more than 80% of global chestnut production. And second, the price of Chinese chestnuts is low in comparison to such countries as Korea, Japan, and Italy where chestnuts are grown in small volumes."

"We can rely on more than 20 years of work experience in the chestnut export industry. Furthermore, we are counted as one of the best operations in the country. Therefore, we have sufficient ability to satisfy diverse consumer demands. Furthermore, we can guarantee the quality of our product and the convenience of distribution, because we use only the freshest chestnuts, our factories have a daily processing capacity of around 100 tons, and our factories are close to the port."

"The European market demand for chestnuts has become strong in recent years. Since European countries have few areas suitable for growing chestnuts, they have no way to satisfy consumer demand. This situation allows us to look at new business opportunities in export."
