Costa Rica's melon export season for the European market ends in May and, this season, producers achieved more colorful fruits that have a better internal quality than usual. Thus, they were able to offer consumers a melon that exceeds expectations and that can lead them to repeat that experience.
Several melon producers in Costa Rica have weighed in about the increase in quality. According to Guillermo Garcia Salas, who works at the Research and Development Department of Seminis, "the quality achieved this season is the result of the effort made by many producers involved in the supply chain."
"We offer an SV 6276 product that has been able to position itself well in a short time. Thanks to the material used, producers are sure they will obtain a melon that satisfies the most demanding markets, such as the Scandinavian countries, Germany, and the United Kingdom, which look for high quality melons that have a great flavor," Garcia Salas stated.
Guillermo also said that his company worked hard to provide its costumers with a product that, despite the prevailing climatic conditions in the production areas, "assure producers they will obtain the necessary quality to meet their consumers needs. Fortunately, the SV 6276 has managed to give us that security."
"Producers are more focused on offering high quality melons that comply with all the standards required and that have the necessary certifications to ensure consumers receive a healthy, safe, quality product," said Marbeth Venegas Solis, of Melones del Sol, who added that "the use of the SV 6276 has been very important. It has contributed to our export programs in a consistent manner, helping us meet our export goals and, above all, allowing us to offer a product we know consumers will find attractive and will enjoy consuming."
"Our customers come first. Consumers must always receive a high quality product. We strive to always meet their expectations. We supply 100% of our yellow melon program with SV 6276 because it ensures we'll meet those expectations", said Rolf Weber, of the Global Producers company.
Weber also said "the marketer is always looking to offer a better quality product that improves the customer experience, offering the best packaging, transport, and storage conditions so that consumers perceive the value of the product their acquiring and so that they are willing to repeat the experience."
Cesar Narvaez, Strategic Account for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, said "we are confident that we'll be able to continue sending a better quality product to the European market, thanks to all the actors committed to consumer satisfaction and the meticulous care given to each detail. In addition, as the product is positioning itself as a high quality product, it will be possible to acquire the melons of Costa Rica in any supermarket during the export season."
