Jupiter Group’s Greek stone fruit season, which includes nectarines, peaches and cherries, commenced in mid-May and will run until mid-September, depending on varieties.
Produce comes from some of the best growers in the country and can be offered in a host of packing formats – including netted punnets, flow-wrapped, loose in cartons, or wooden boxes. Bespoke packaging formats are available upon request.
Nectarines: From two of the best growers in the northern region of Thessaloniki, Jupiter Group offers nectarines from week 23 through to week 36. Both their growers are Global GAP certified and have significant volume in excess of four million kg’s.
Peaches: From two quality sources in the north of Greece, we offer class 1 peaches from week 21 to week 38 in 64 varieties, including Sweet Dream, Royal Glory, Summer Giant and Crimson Lady. Both sources have their own packing facilities (one with superb capacity) with full accreditation of Global GAP, GRASP, BRC, IFS, ISO, 22000 and ISO 9001, HACCP, and AGRO 2.
Cherries: We offer supply from two areas of Greece, Rhodope, in north west Greece, and in Pella.
Rhodope: Farmed over 400 hectares with around 2,000 tonnes of annual production our supplier has BRC, IFS, EN ISO 22000, GLOBAL GAP and GRASP accreditation. Available varieties are Burlat, Early Lory, Early Bigi, Samba, Sabrina, Lapins, Skeena, Z900, Ferrovia, Regina, Kordia.
Pella: This region offers a more specific size-based cherry – 24-26mm and 26-28mm – from a desire to produce only the very best fruit. Well known for its quality and its excellent taste, these cherries are fully certified by GlobalGAP.
The main varieties (in harvesting date order) are: Satin, Samba, Larian, Crystalina, Georgia, Early Star, Grey Star, Black Star, Big Star, Lapins, Bakirtzeika (Greek variety), Ferovia, Germensdorfer, Skenna, Regina, Kordia, and Sweet Heart.
Jupiter also holds the master licence to produce Maylen (Inia GrapeOne) and the Arra varieties of grapes in Greece and have planted in excess of 80 Ha’s. "We expect approximately 300 tonnes of these exceptional new varieties out of Greece this year equating to around 25 lorries."
