"We are still focused on the production of fresh Chinese pears for the export market"

The price of domestic pears on the Chinese market is currently high. "The price fluctuations in the fresh pear market will be quite large if the market conditions of this year and last year are a reliable indication. The main reason for this development was the extreme weather last year when trees in pear orchards throughout the country were in bloom. The sudden frost greatly reduced the overall pear production volume. The decline in marketable pears in particular immediately pushed the price up. The response of overseas markets to the high price of Chinese pears was immediately visible. Many overseas traders looked at the price and turned away. This forced many Chinese companies to change their retail strategy and turn from export to domestic sales. However, export is still our main focus. Our main target markets are the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Mexico." This is according to Holly Wu of Hebei Choice Fruit Alliance Business Management Co., Ltd.

This year's pear export to the USA has become more complicated since the customs tariffs between China and the USA increased. However, the export of Crown pears to the USA is still as strong as ever. The Crown pear is extremely popular in the US market. According to Holly Wu, "the increased tariffs certainly have an impact on our pear export to the USA, but we also adapt our retail strategy to account for that impact. We explore new retail markets to spread the risk of market instability in the USA. We have already entered the South American market and are expanding our presence in the European market."

"We export different pears, including Ya pears, Snow pears, Crown pears, New Pear No. 7, Hong Xiangsu pears, Fengshui pears, and New Gao pears. The Crown pear has a great fruit shape and an excellent flavor. The Crown pear also has a large production volume, is easy to manage, and can endure storage. It is for these reasons that the Crown pear has become a market favorite in China and abroad in recent years. One could even say that the yellow Crown pear has really deserved the "crown" among fresh pears. This pear is without a doubt an important element in the future of the pear industry in Hebei."

"The competition in the fresh pear market in China is growing increasingly fierce. However, the competition does not take place between Chinese pears and Western pears, but between pears and other fruits. Now that the Chinese market is opening up to the world, fruit is coming in from all around the globe. The Chinese kitchen becomes more and more diverse, but this increasing variety in the fruit market has consequences for the Chinese fruit industry. The greatest strength of fresh pears is the year-round supply of this type of fruit. Furthermore, pears moisten the throat and help to stop coughing. These benefits to people's health make pears quite popular among domestic consumers."
