Photo report: MedFEL 2019

The 11th edition of MedFEL in Perpignan, which took place from the 24th to the 26th of April, was an opportunity for 200 exhibitors to introduce themselves. The fair was centered around debates on the future of the fruit and vegetable sector, with topics like “which place for superfruits in the industry?” or “Fruits and vegetables with High Environmental Value”. It was also the opportunity, as usual, to present the predictions for the European harvests of peaches/nectarines, apricots and melons.

Many companies came to promote their local production, such as the Nîmes strawberries, the Tarascon melon, the Roussillon herbs or the sweet onions of Cévennes. Others also attended in order to present some Spanish products.

Labels were honored, including the Zero Pesticide Residue label, the organic label, the red label or the eco-responsible orchards, but also the High Environmental Value label which many companies recently obtained and proudly displayed at the fair.

A majority of exhibitors came from Occitania, the leading region in terms of organic production in France. This year, the Saint Charles Export booth hosted 25 companies.

Exceptionally, MedFEL was held from Wednesday to Friday this year because of Easter Monday. Next year, it will take place again from Tuesday to Thursday.
