Imports of fresh fruit and vegetables grew by 33.5% in volume and 23.4% in value in the first three months of 2019, compared with the same period last year.
This was reported by Incofruit-Hellas said in a report released on Tuesday. The volume of imports totaled 244,240 tons and their value stood at €181.75 million euros in the January-March period.
Import of vegetables soared 58.9% in volume and 74.4% in value in the three-month period (163,546 tons worth €102 million). Imports of potatoes jumped 55.1% in volume and 129.5% in value in the first three months while imports of tomatoes soared 114% in volume and 78.5% in value.
According to an article on tornosnews.gr, imports of fruits were up 0.9% in volume but fell 10.2% in value over the same period.
