Fruit Producers and Exporters Association Moldova Fruct will bring 16 producers and exporters to Fruit Logistica 2020 in Berlin on February 5-7 to highlight Moldova’s fruit offerings – an untapped, high quality supply source for many prospective European buyers.
“Our objective is to promote Moldovan fruits to potential customers and to make the Republic of Moldova known as a supplier of high quality and tasty fruits. The European Union is a competitive market with a lot of consumers ready to pay for quality fruits. In this regard, Moldovan producers meet the rigors of delivery, quality, and assortment,” said Moldova Fruct executive director Iurie Fala.
While Moldovan fruits and vegetables have traditionally been sent to Eastern Europe and Russia, buyers from around the world are discovering that Moldova is a best-kept secret. Each year, more producers are committing to higher quality standards and are obtaining international certifications such as GLOBALG.A.P./GRASP and ISO22000 to better cater to new markets. The majority of showcasing participants in Fruit Logistica 2020 are GLOBALG.A.P. certified, many of them have also obtained GRASP certification and participated in CBI export coaching program, receiving an extensive marketing training and personal guidance.
Moldovan grapes and plums are sold well in the European Union, and consumers in the Middle East, Northern Africa, Mongolia, and South Asia are beginning to enjoy the exceptional taste of Moldovan apples. “We are exploring new markets and try to fulfill new demands in regions where we did not have any previous presence,” Mr. Fala noted.
The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Moldova is increasingly facilitating fruit exports to the EU, and in 2019, vast quantities of plums were exported to please customers in Germany and Baltic countries.
With more than 180 members, the Fruit Producers and Exporters Association Moldova Fruct is an association dedicated to advancing the horticultural sector in the Republic of Moldova and to promoting the interests of its members. A key goal for the organization is to diversify markets for premium products from Moldova, consisting of apples, plums, cherries, grapes, and stone fruits.
Moldova’s premier fruit producers and exporters look forward to meeting with you to show that in Moldova, taste makes the difference! You can visit the Moldova Fruct booth at Fruit logistica, in Hall 7.2B, stand B04.
