Ronald Bown, the chairman of the Chilean Fruit Export Association, stated that Chilean shipping containers had previously experienced difficulties going through Chinese customs, but now Chilean fruit export to China is gradually returning to normal. The sales volume quickly recovered in several second-tier cities such as Changsha, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing.
Two days ago, on February 19th, Chilean fruit export to China included 33 containers of cherries, 8 containers of grapes, 17 containers of peaches, and 21 containers of plums. The average daily sales volume is around 70 shipping containers,which is an increase of 24% in comparison with previous sales figures.
1,478 shipping containers still remain in the port. This number includes cherries (564), peaches (448), blueberries (192), plums (179), avocados (55), and grapes (40). The entire volume of Chilean cherries will hopefully be sold by next week.
