Containing seven times the antioxidants found in other plum varieties, the opulent Queen Garnet plum is in season. Nutrafruit Pty Ltd have distributed a record-breaking harvest of the majestic Queen Garnet plum, with the biggest bounty since commercial production began in 2014.
Boasting myriad, recently-revealed health benefits, the Queen Garnet plum has been lovingly cultivated to be ‘the queen of antioxidants’.
The plum contains an assortment of healthy vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin K, while also supplying dietary fibre and offering very low calories without any harmful fats.
As shown in a 2019 study, daily consumption of Queen Garnet plum juice could attenuate the development of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Furthermore, in a separate investigation, consumption of Queen Garnet plums may ameliorate the symptoms of irritable bowel disease.
The regal fruit holds its firm, robust shape when prepared for fresh fruit salads and works well when blended through smoothies and copious cooked sweet and savoury dishes.
When stored in the fridge, Queen Garnet plums boast a two-week shelf life. While best eaten crisp and fresh, Queen Garnet plums are a seasonal lunchbox treat for the back-to-school season, picnics and snacking.
“More than just a fruit, we’ve made the Queen Garnet plum the star of our great wellbeing range. Whether enjoyed fresh or from the packet, the plum’s versatility and royal antioxidant status make for easy integration into the Aussie diet and effortless nourishment for both body and soul”, says Nutrafruit CEO Luke Couch.
The Queen Garnet is now available at Woolworths and Coles supermarkets nationally, selected retail outlets throughout Australia, and central fresh produce markets nation-wide, until March.
