DzodanBerry, the Serbian company specialized in the production of blueberries, will be the first fruit company to start the Digital Agriculture Antares BioSensa European experimental project, implemented by the European Center of Scientific Excellence for advanced information technologies in sustainable agriculture, the Novi Sad BioSense Institute.
Digital blueberry plantation
This project will give DzodanBerry the opportunity to have the first 'digital plantation' in Europe and be the only company capable of combining traditional agriculture and cutting-edge, innovative, and global IT solutions. The goal is to improve production in its blueberry plantations and increase its competitiveness.
The Antares BioSensa project is being implemented in 7 hectares of facilities that are 250 meters above sea level in Kosmaj, on the slopes of a mountain of virgin nature that is located among forests, just 40 km from Belgrade and 20 km from the highway; an ideal logistics location to supply the local and international markets.
The company produces approximately 100 tons of Duke blueberries and is well known for the very modern design of its infrastructure. In addition, the company stands out thanks to other advantageous factors it employs in its production, such as soil type, water quality, a favorable climate for cultivation, selection of the most suitable plant variety, good planting material, irrigation equipment, use of anti-hail nets, fertigation systems, and cold storage on-site, among other things.
Its exports are mainly directed to the Netherlands, Italy, Israel, and Germany and are certified by Global Gap.
“We believe that in the near future Serbia will be recognized for its blueberries and its raspberries, which are already famous on the European fruit map. Being pioneers on this path, we strive to make our contribution, building long-term and quality relationships with our partners,” stated the company executives, who also spoke about their future plans to expand their plantations and grow fresh raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries of the highest quality.
