In the fruit import and export business, one of the most commercially relevant factors is always the quality with which it reaches its destination. Journeys of up to 20 days to Europe make it an important challenge for any country to work on quality from the field so that the fruit arrives in the best conditions and to avoid discounts by the importer. In the Americas, countries like Peru and Chile have positioned themselves very well in this regard and are highly recognized by importers.
Mexico has been working very quickly to achieve the trust of its customers in destinations such as Europe and Asia where quality requirements are different and shipping times require meticulous work.
Control Union, a Dutch inspection and certification body with a presence in more than 70 countries, has been carrying out fruit quality inspections in the different packing houses in Mexico. This has helped many importers to have a real-time report of the fruit, through an independent third party, before being shipped. In the same way, it allows exporters to improve the quality of their fruit and carry out inspections to the arrival at any destination.
In addition, the United Producers of Mexico (UPM) has been promoting this initiative through the creation of a "Global Quality Center" based in Jalisco that seeks to provide the best solutions for Mexican exporters in terms of quality.
On February 25, an event called “Workshop for European importers” will be held, with the participation of experts such as the University of Wageningen, Control Union and independent consultants with high experience in this matter. This event will be perfect for fruit importers. To register for the event, click here.
