The closure of the Peruvian table grape campaign shows positive results. The Association of Producers and Exporters of Table Grapes of Peru (PROVID) stated that Peru had exported a total of 57,377,537 boxes of grapes this season, i.e. 17% more than in the previous season.
A total of 133 exporting companies participated in the season, exporting 50 varieties of table grapes -mainly white seedless and red seedless grapes- to 62 different markets. The United States accounted for 41% of shipments, the Netherlands for 14%, China for 11%, England for 4.18%, and Canada for 3.97%.
“Peru has managed to successfully end one more table grape export campaign, which means that formal companies kept the usual jobs and managed to comply with all the commitments they had in the different world markets. We regret the days of the stoppage, which prevented us from offering additional growth in jobs,” the union stated.
There was also a 2% growth in the certified area in this season, reaching 20,775 hectares.
