At the beginning of July, the American company Hyperloop TT presented its freight transport concept capable of carrying merchandise “at the speed of a plane and the cost of a train,” which is more than 600 km/h.
The “HyperPort” project would make it possible to transport up to 2,800 containers per day. A delivery “in a few minutes instead of a few hours,” according to Hyperloop TT.
The company wants to 'move the ports inland'. “By using the same technology as our passenger systems, HyperPort maintains supply chains and frees space on the waterfront that would otherwise be used for maritime transport,” says Andres De Leon, the CEO.
The project was developed in partnership with Hamburger Hafen and Logistik AG, a German company, as well as the Spanish engineering company CT Ingenieros. A virtual reality presentation will take place at the next world congress on intelligent transport systems in Hamburg in October.
