It seems pear production in Belgium is going to be significantly higher than was predicted in August. An estimate of 295 million kg was presented during Prognosfruit. But at the AMI webinar, that turned out to have increased to 335 million kg. The main reason is the fruits' improved outgrowth. In-store pear prices are higher than in previous years. But Schwartau says that has not affected the volumes sold.
