The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam said that the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, had officially resumed customs clearance in Pingxiang Puzhai on the morning of January 25. The port from the Vietnamese side is Cửa khẩu Tân Thanh of Lạng Sơn Province.
The Puzhai-Cửa khẩu Tân Thanh port is of great significance to Vietnam's agricultural products and fruit exports. At present, the two sides have reached an agreement on the handover of trucks on the borderline. Previously, in order to consolidate and strengthen the prevention and control measures of COVID-19, Guangxi had suspended the customs clearance of goods at Puzhai port on December 18, 2021.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam believes that it is a positive and important action for Guangxi to decide to resume customs clearance at the Puzhai port before the second meeting of the Vietnam-China Trade Facilitation Working Group and the first meeting of the Vietnam-China Working Group on Resolving Border Port Congestion. Thanks to bilateral efforts, the number of trucks waiting for customs clearance in Lạng SơnProvince has been greatly reduced in recent days.
As of 8:00 a.m. on January 24, there were about 355 trucks waiting for customs clearance at the Lạng Sơn Provincial Port. The resumption of customs clearance at the Puzhai-Xinqing port will help both sides better solve the problem of truck congestion and effectively implement the instruction given by the Prime Minister of Vietnam to the Steering Committee for the Settlement of Cargo Congestion at the Northern Border Port.
