Mechanization as a strategy to deal with increased production costs

"Today, mechanization is the winning strategy in horticulture in order to be competitive and deal with the increases in production costs. It makes it possible to reach important objectives such as increased productivity, better planning of production cycles and harvesting, not depending on labor and lower production costs despite the investment made to purchase the machinery," reports Francesco Roselli from Dari Ecomeccanica, whose company is located in the heart of the Sele plain (Salerno).

Dari Ecomeccanica specializes in the production of harvesters for vegetables and baby leaves and manufactures eco-friendly machines and agriculture 4.0. The company adds innovative characteristics to every machine designed and manufactured. It creates sturdy, practical, eco-friendly and zero-impact solutions thanks to the absence of a hydraulic system in order to meet the needs of an ever-evolving agricultural sector.

"The added value is constituted by the innovative cutting and harvesting system. Machines have a very low environmental impact, guarantee excellent harvesting and can be customized according to producer needs."

The first harvester on the Italian market, which revolutionized a traditional segment such as that of turnip tips, was developed precisely by Dari Ecomeccanica.

"Extra – Crops is the harvester for turnip tips, aromatic herbs and other 'high-stem' herbs that makes it possible to sort the product already in the field and form bunches in order to reduce processing times in the warehouse, taking 3/4 operators per hectare in total. This way, the lack of labor is not a problem and 1 hectare can be harvested in 3 hours."

For 2022, Dari Ecomeccanica aims at innovating and continuing to design machines in line with an ever-evolving scenario that meets the needs of entrepreneurs.

"Production costs have increased for us too. It has become difficult to source raw materials and the risk of delayed supplies is always around the corner. But we are trying to keep the same prices of the past few years."
