As riots continue in Peru, the southern growing regions are under direct violent attacks from masked people. Sadly, it has spread to farms and critical government inspection services. According to the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (Agap) it estimates about $200 million in losses in the Ica, Arequipa, and La Libertad regions alone.
Peru imports of blueberries through Philadelphia and New York City area ports of entry movement expected to decrease as most growers are finished for the season. Movement of avocado crossings from Mexico through Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading 32-40s fairly slow, others moderate. Prices 60-70s lower, others generally unchanged.
Movement of cucumbers from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected about the same. Trading active with prices generally unchanged. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium 30.95-32.95, large mostly 28.95-30.95, fair quality 26.95-27.95. Available supplies fairly light. Most present shipments from prior bookings and/or previous commitments. Quality variable.
