Victoria contributes $1.3 million to AgTech expansion

With an investment of $1.3 million that includes the formation of the first specific angel investor group and grants for up-and-coming business owners, Australia's Victorian province government is trying to stimulate the expanding agricultural technology sector.

Twenty aspiring AgTech entrepreneurs are presently eligible for $50,000 grants from LaunchVic, the startup arm of the Victorian government.

Victorian institutions like Monash University have a close connection to the AgTech study community. In a recent study from Monash, AI was used to monitor the movements of bees to help increase crop yield and pollination.

The Australian Blueberry Growers Association, the berries section of Costa Group, CSIRO, Western Sydney University, and University of New England will all collaborate and work with researchers.
