Shoppers at Sainsbury’s were appalled as they were charged £15 for a single onion. In particular, customers faced the eye-watering price of the vegetable in the supermarket's online checkout. One woman was faced with a bill of £45.39 after popping three loose brown onions in her basket.
Sainsbury's has apologized and blamed a technical error with its website, telling unhappy customers: "I'm sorry the price is high on the site. You will be charged the correct price on the day of your delivery.”
