Peru expects to export a record volume of agricultural products this year

“We are looking forward to the approval of protocols that will give avocado access to the Philippines”

According to the director of the Global Economy and Business Research Center of the Association of Exporters CIEN-Adex, Edgar Vasquez Vela, Peruvian agro exports will increase by 7.6% this year to a historical 10.6 billion dollars record.

Julio Perez Alvan, the president of Adex, said that, as part of the growth strategy, Peruvian agro exports will continue to diversify their markets, adding the Asian markets and strengthening their presence in the ones they already export to.

Perez highlighted the work of institutions, such as the National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA), to help better position the national food supply in the world and diversify destinations.

“Our table grapes recently gained access to Japan and we'll see the results of this opening reflected in this year's and next year's export statistics. Likewise, we are attentive to the completion and approval of the phytosanitary protocols that will grant our avocado access to the Philippines,” he added.

He also said that they have agreements with PromPeru to promote the participation of companies in the trade mission to Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand) next May, "which will conclude with the presence of companies at the Thaifex fair in Thailand."

They will also boost the attendance of national companies at the Seoul Food & Hotel Fair in South Korea, the Seoul International Café Show in South Korea, and the 15th Food Expo (EA) to be held from September 27 to 29 and which will attract the presence of buyers from all continents, he added.
