Who were the winners of the second edition of the Banana Awards?

A total of 11 companies in the banana sector were awarded on April 19 during the second edition of the Banana Awards, organized by the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEBE).

Reybanpac won the highest award as the company with the best export performance. It was also awarded with the Financial Stability and Market Diversification awards in the Economic-Financial Performance category.

In the same category, the Freskbana company was awarded the Export Efficiency Award; and Agzulasa won the Potential Market Opening Award.

In the Sustainability category, Orodelti won two awards: the Sustainable Development Award and the Sustainable Action Management Award. In this same category, the Jasafrut company was awarded the Sustainability award with a mention in Gender Equality.

Companies in the value chain were also awarded:

Best economic performance in the logistics sector: Midden Van.
Best economic performance in the input sector: Agrorum.
Best economic performance in the paper sector: Papelera Nacional.
Sustainability Award with a mention in Management of sustainable actions: Mardiempre (inputs).
Sustainability Award with a mention in Gender Equality: Netafim (inputs) and Grupasa (Cardboard).

Marinela Ubilla, the President of the Board of Directors of AEBE, stressed that “the Banana Awards highlight the Ecuadorian banana sector's development, innovation, social programs, protection of the environment, excellent administration, adaptation to the changing tastes of the consumer, and the sector's promotion of the sustainable development goals of the 2030 agenda.”

Jose Antonio Hidalgo, Executive Director of AEBE, said that the Banana Awards are part of the guild's strategic agenda and that they would soon hold another iconic event for this industry: the International Banana Convention, an event that was first held 20 years ago.
