It's official: the 2024 Conference of the World Union of Wholesale (WUWM) will take place in Rimini. It's a significant result for the whole city, and the fruit of the work of CAAR (Centro Agro Alimentare Riminese), Italmercati and the Rimini Municipality.
"I am very proud of the result, also on behalf of CAAR's BOD and Management. When only few thought we could make it, CAAR insisted and fought to obtain one of the leading events in the world for our territory. It's a great achievement for our organization and for all of Rimini, which we managed also thanks to the support of Italmercati," reports CAAR President Gianni Indino.

A decisive step was taken last fall when the candidacy was presented during the WUWM conference in Abu Dhabi. Since then, the Event & Conference of Italian Exhibition Group created a dossier.
"It is a source of great pride for us to bring the World Union of Wholesale conference to Italy. The Rimini edition will be the occasion to assess the evolution of the new investments markets are forced to make all over the world to remain competitive. In Italy, we are ready also thanks to National Recovery Plan funds. The new projects will enable us to continue playing a leading role when it comes to the transparency and safety of the chain, guaranteeing access to healthy, nutrient and affordable food to all. All these topics will be discussed in Rimini in 2024," stresses Fabio Massimo Pallottini.
The conference is usually attended by 400 operators from all over the world. After the Abu Dhabi edition of 2022, this year it will take place in Mexico City, while in 2024 there will be a spring edition in Bangkok and a fall one in Rimini (probably in early October).
"This success is a new, extraordinary confirmation of the entrepreneurial and organizational ability of IEG and Centro Agro Alimentare Riminese, as well as a recognition of the city as an international destination. This was combined with a coordinated teamwork for a shared objective that sees Rimini as a leading hospitality player throughout the year. WUWM in Rimini will in fact join a busy calendar of global events the city will host in 2023 and 2024," confirms Rimini Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad.
"As is often the case, it is the 'ambassadors' of a territory - in this case CAAR with its President Gianni Indino - that generate new great opportunities for the congress sector. The choice of the city of Rimini for this prestigious global congress is in fact the result of the commitment of a strong and cohesive territory: the attendance of the Mayor in the Abu Dhabi conference is an example of this. We at IEG, with our Event & Conference division, then presented a competitive application and we are very proud of the outcome. It is a great addition to the many successes achieved by the territory and IEG, which will contribute to the city's economy," explains IEG's CEO Corrado Peraboni.
WUWM promotes the role of food markets to guarantee food safety and easy access to healthy high-quality diets through a well-organized, safe and sustainable system. Boasting 217 members, WUWM operates thanks to a network in over 40 countries worldwide and 5 continents.
