In Kazakhstan, they plan to stabilize seasonal prices for onions

The measures to combat seasonal price surges for onions in Kazakhstan were discussed in the Majilis (lower house of parliament).

Agriculture Minister Erbol Karashukeev stated that onion production in Kazakhstan exceeds the demand by four times. Despite the surplus, in the open market economy, there is no guarantee that the prices of onions will remain stable.

The main issue is the lack of vegetable storage facilities, with only two regions responsible for storage and they do so properly. Minister Karashukeev assured that if onion storage issues were resolved, onions could be stored until April, instead of December, and prices would be stabilized.

The government had put export restrictions in place to protect the domestic market but lifted them as soon as it was confirmed that the domestic market was provided for.
