Peru has exported 37,567 tons of ginger so far in 2023, i.e. 49% more than the 25,278 tons it shipped in the same period of last year.
Last week, the country shipped 1,414 tons, 16% more than in the same week of 2022. Peruvian ginger reached 8 destinations.
The United States was the largest buyer with a 39% share (22% less than in the same week of 2022). It was followed by the Netherlands with a 36% share (+91%) and Canada with a 10% share (almost tripling the volume acquired in this week of last year). These 3 destinations accounted for 85% of shipments.
Last week, no less than 33 Peruvian companies participated in the export. Shipments were led by Fruitxchange with a 10% share (and which mainly supplied Spain and the Netherlands- as it sent 43% of its shipments to each one of these destinations), Vancard Perú with a 9% share (which sent 84% of its shipments to the Netherlands and 16% to the US), and Agronegocios La Grama with a 7% share (sending 57% of its product to the Netherlands and 43% to the US).
