At the border with China in Zabaykalsky Krai, more than 2.5 tons of nectarines infested with the Oriental fruit moth were halted. The fruits had to undergo decontamination, as reported by the press Rosselkhoznadzor.
The pest was discovered alive during phytosanitary control at the temporary storage warehouse of LLC “TLT-Zabaykalsk.”
It is presumed that the purchasing company did not pay attention to the condition of the produce during the final stage of import, which led to the appearance of the pest.
Following the decontamination process, the batch of nectarines was approved for import into the territory of the Russian Federation.
As highlighted by experts from Rosselkhoznadzor, the Oriental fruit moth is a dangerous pest that damages the fruits and shoots of nearly all fruit crops, capable of destroying anywhere from 50 to 100% of the harvest.
