Costa Rica’s unique way of getting bananas to market: the ‘banana train’

Costa Rica produces sugar, coffee, pineapples and bananas; the tiny country dedicates a substantial portion of its landmass to producing crops specifically for export. The people of Costa Rica have used their ingenuity to determine the best way to harvest and get bananas to market.

Take a look at this video, showing bananas traveling on the “banana train” on their way to market. The Costa Rica “banana train” is actually a suspended cable. The cable circulates on a system of pulleys to move the bananas from one point to another during processing.
