The Association of Ecuadorian Banana Exporters (AEBE) is preparing for its XX International Convention, Banana Time 2023. It will take place at the Hilton Colón Hotel in Guayaquil from October 24 to 27, 2023.
This emblematic event, which brings together the leading national and international proponents of the sector, promises to be an integral platform for the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of business opportunities in the banana industry.
José Antonio Hidalgo, Director of the Association, mentions that: "This year we want to exhaust efforts to reach more and better the international market, for this reason we seek to promote important changes in the productive conditions of the farms, from the technical and economic point of view, going through the labor, social and environmental aspects. Faced with the current situation in which we live in the country and the world, we have great challenges ahead of us, as an industry we must respond with a responsible and comprehensive vision that thinks about people, the environment and business in the long term.”
With the aim of promoting competitiveness and sustainability throughout its value chain, AEBE has designed a strategic agenda that offers a variety of activities such as: experience exchanges, commercial exhibitions and business roundtables of great interest that will provide attendees with a complete vision of innovations and trends that shape the future of the sector and that guarantee commercial benefits for Ecuador as a producing country.
Additionally, Banana Time 2023 will analyze fundamental aspects for the performance of the sector on issues ranging from productive conditions, consumer trends in international markets, labor relations and the projected performance of the business for the year 2024. In addition, a thorough review for the purposes of the climatic phenomena of El Niño and La Niña in Ecuador, as well as initiatives to measure and reduce the carbon and water footprint of banana production.
The business conference is projected as a platform designed to facilitate the meeting between entrepreneurs, businessmen, investors and institutions. This promises to boost economic integration between the various participating countries, opening opportunities for the purchase and sale of services, products and processes that will strengthen collaboration at the international level.
This year's convention has the participation of more than 80 companies that represent the diversity of the banana sector value chain, including producers, exporters, shipping companies, ports, logistics companies and other service companies.
