But lack of federal agricultural tax auditors might thwart shipments

Brazilian grape growers to increase exports to US

The negative effects of Hurricane Hilary, which hit the US last month, have opened new horizons for grape producers in the São Francisco Valley. With the prospect of an increase of around 35% compared to the last major harvest, in 2021, when Vale exported 14,390 tons of fruit to the US, producers met in Petrolina with representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

During the meeting, at the Rural Producers Union of Petrolina (SPR), fruit growers and representatives of the federal government, recognized that there is a lack of federal agricultural tax auditors to analyze and release the fruits and they even fear 'a collapse' in exports.

According to the president of the Rural Producers Union of Petrolina, Jailson Lira, American customers are already offering very attractive prices and placing fruit orders in advance with a view to supplying supermarket chains for the months of November, December and January of the next year.
