The Delassus Group from Morocco has appealed to the fresh produce industry for funding to help support the reconstruction of villages in Morocco following the recent devastating earthquake.
Driving the initiative on behalf of the company is Fatiha Cahrrat, Deputy Managing Director of the the Delassus Group: "A week ago, Morocco experienced an earthquake that caused thousands of villages in the high Atlas mountains to collapse. In addition to the 3,000 lost lives, tens of thousands of individuals were left with absolutely nothing, they are scattered across the mountains with difficult access."
"Since then, all the country, government, hundreds of associations and thousands of people have rushed to help the villagers by buying and distributing food, water and basic necessities. Tents and mattresses were quick to follow although most people are still sleeping without protection over their heads. Reconstruction of homes for the victims is now necessary and urgent with a cold winter looming. Significant resources are being sought. The funds raised will serve reconstruction of one village or more depending on the money raised."
Delassus Group has created a bank account - Sanady Fonds Seisme - through the Sanady Foundation. The funds collected will be used to rebuild houses and schools in affected villages says Charrat.
"If you would like to help make a difference, we invite you to consider making a donation to the following account number. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a significant impact. Your continued support, whether via recommendation or simply being part of our community, is incredibly valuable to us," concludes Charrat.
