No to the Chinese, but yes to someone else - this is the news (reported a few days ago by Il Sole24Ore) according to which Verisem is for sale again, but not to Syngenta. Some may remember how the Verisem dispute - concerning the multinational created following the merger of companies including Suba from Longiano (Forlì-Cesena), set up by Augusto Suzzi in 1974 - started two and a half years ago. The owner of Verisem is American.
"It seems that Robobank was given a mandate to assess new buyers," reports IlSole24Ore. In 2022, the Italian government vetoed (Golden Power) the acquisition of Verisem by Swiss giant Syngenta (controlled by ChemChina).
As Verisem is considered of strategic national interest (despite the company no longer being in Italian hands, as it is controlled by US fund Paine Schwarz Partners) a decree of the President of the Council Mario Draghi and of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy Stefano Patuanelli was issued "opposing the acquisition of the entire capital of Verisem B.V. and its subsidiaries by Syngenta Crop Protection Ag."
