In accordance with relevant Chinese laws and the regulations of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of the Republic of Serbia on the phytosanitary requirements for Serbian apples exported to China, the import of Serbian fresh apples that meet the following relevant requirements is now allowed.
Apple orchards, packaging plants and cold treatment facilities exported to China must be reviewed and registered by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of the Republic of Serbia (hereinafter referred to as the Serbian side), and approved and registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). Registration information includes name, address and registration number. The registration list should be provided to China by Serbia before the export season every year. After review and approval by China, China will publish the registration list on the website of the General Administration of Customs.
Fallen fruits are not allowed to be exported to China. Serbia should ensure that orchards are inspected at least 20 days before fruit harvest, focusing on the presence of quarantine pests that China is concerned about, the monitoring and prevention of pests in the orchards, and the maintenance of hygiene conditions on the field. If quarantine pests of concern to China are discovered, samples should be sent to official laboratories for identification and control measures should be taken immediately. For orchards that are poorly managed and cannot meet the phytosanitary conditions for apple exports to China, their export qualifications for that season should be suspended.
After packaging is completed, technicians at packaging plants should inspect 600 fruits in each batch and select 60 fruits with suspicious symptoms for fruit dissection inspection. If quarantine pests of concern to China are found, the fruits will not be exported to China. If pear fire blight or Monilinia fructicola is discovered, Serbia should also suspend the qualification of relevant non-infected production areas and notify China immediately. The infection-free production areas can be restored only after the epidemic has been eliminated by Serbia and approved by China. Packaged apples exported to China should be put into storage immediately and stored separately to avoid reinfection by harmful organisms.
