Recently, a selection of off-season vegetables, including tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries, grown in greenhouses, has appeared in the Belarusian market. The first batch was harvested near Minsk in a winter strawberry greenhouse. These greenhouses yield strawberries for 9 months a year, and they have recently experimented with growing cucumbers, lettuce, and tomatoes using supplemental lighting technology.
The farm is committed to supplying these off-season tomatoes and cucumbers to consumers and restaurants at reasonable prices, aided by government-approved preferential tariffs on electricity and gas. They assure that cucumber prices will remain at January-February levels, not exceeding 4 euros per kilogram in retail.
