In September, Peru exported 696 tons of lemon for US$951,000, i.e. 64% less volume and 53% less value than in the same month last year.
That same month, Peruvian lemons reached only four destinations, half the number of destinations compared to last year. Chile was the largest buyer with 498 tons of lemon -68% share- worth US$650,000, i.e. 49% less volume and 15% less value compared to 2022. The average price in this destination stood at US$1.30 per kilogram (+67%).
It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 26% share, which acquired 149 tons for US$245,000; that is, 62% less volume and 66% less value than last year. The average price in this country was US$1.64 per kilogram (-10%).
The United States ranked third with a large drop in lemon imports and only accounting for a 5% share. The US only imported 44 tons for US$50,000, i.e. 75% less volume and 70% less value than in 2022. The price of Peruvian lemon in the North American market stood at US$1.12 per kilogram (+20%).
