Smart elephant Pang Pha surprises researchers by peeling bananas herself

Researchers from the Humboldt University of Berlin have made a remarkable discovery at the Berlin Zoo, where the Asian elephant Pang Pha has taught herself to peel bananas before eating them. Pang Pha's behavior indicates an extraordinary degree of agility, speed, and individuality, and is believed to be influenced by observing people.

When Pang Pha was given yellow or green bananas, she ate them whole, which was considered normal elephant behavior. However, when she received yellow bananas with brown spots, Pang Pha turned out to be an adept peeler. She breaks the banana with her trunk, shakes out the flesh and throws away the peel.
