Hungry black bear picking apples

On November 3 in Georgetown, California, a black bear was recorded by Dayna Hawes' Ring camera, foraging for apples in her backyard. The bear, captured on film climbing and shaking an apple tree, was exhibiting behavior typical of hyperphagia—a feeding frenzy state common in black bears during fall, as explained by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

This period of intense feeding increases bears' interactions with humans. Hawes had adjusted her camera to monitor the tree after previous bear sightings.
