At Naki Groothandel on the Venlo Fresh Park site, the Turkish vegetable season is in full swing. Over the past decade, the wholesaler has made a name for itself with Turkish home-grown products. In Turkey, a wide range of vegetables and fruits are grown by the company's own cultivation company CNG Group.
For example, the wholesaler in Venlo has been offering Turkish tomatoes on the vine and beef tomatoes under the Cesur brand, named after his Turkish cousin, for a month now. "We have been growing tomatoes in Turkey for quite a few years now. In the initial years, it was only a financial investment, but we've learned a lot from the experience, and at this point, we have mastered the cultivation," Serdal Güneser explains.
"By cultivating ourselves, we have control over the entire supply chain. Without intermediaries, we can maintain competitive prices," Serdal Güneser explains. "This also applies to the mini-cucumbers we grow in Turkey. Currently, the Spanish ones are excessively expensive. We can offer them 30-40% cheaper!"
"The tomato sales are performing well this year. Not as exceptional as last year, but that was an extraordinary year for sales. I believe people have less disposable income this year. We primarily sell Turkish vegetables in the German, Dutch, and Belgian markets and have a broad customer base, including retailers, wholesalers, and market traders."
