Turkish exporters have initiated efforts in 2024 to boost exports to China. The Business Committee, chaired by Tayfun Kılıç, Deputy Director General of Exports of the Ministry of Commerce, is engaged in intensive discussions with Chinese counterparts from January 29 to February 1, 2024.
A delegation, including Hayrettin Ucak, Vice President of Aegean Exporters' Associations Coordinator and President of Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Exporters' Association, and Cumhur İşbırakmaz, Secretary General of Aegean Exporters' Associations, visited the China Chamber of Commerce for Foodstuffs, Domestic Products and Animal By-Products Import and Export (CFNA).
During the visit, Ucak mentioned that resuming cherry exports to China will also boost exports of citrus fruits, pomegranates, grapes, apples, figs, almonds, and kiwis. Negotiations between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey and the General Administration of Quality, Control, Inspection and Quarantine of China are ongoing.
Ucak highlighted Turkey's efforts to start fresh fruit and vegetable exports to China, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation for offering quality Turkish food products at affordable prices. The goal is to reach $210 billion in food exports to China, which currently imports $1 billion annually.
Furthermore, the Aegean Exporters' Association aims to establish a digital marketplace in China in 2024. Discussions with Chinese counterparts will focus on this project and lay the groundwork for marketing activities in the Chinese market.
The Turkish Business Delegation also visited COFCO and the China Foreign Trade Support Council to improve trade balance between China and Turkey.
