Ikigai Fruits, a pioneering Japanese startup, has launched a service delivering Japan's premium fruits to US consumers. This marks the first time American customers can access these high-end products without traveling to Japan. Ikigai Fruits offers strawberries, melons, and satsuma oranges (seasonally available in October) for purchase online, with plans to expand their selection to include additional seasonal fruits.
Strawberries are available in two varieties: kokotas priced at $89 per box and kiramekis at $238 per box, the latter known for their exceptional balance of sweetness and tartness. For those looking to celebrate, a $780 variety pack featuring nine kokotas, awayukis, and pearl whites is also on offer. Additionally, Ikigai Fruits sells the "King of Melons," a $128 crown melon from Shizuoka, recognized for its superior quality.
Ikigai Fruits aims to share the luxury and quality of Japanese fruit with a global audience, while also encouraging a new generation to engage with agriculture, amidst a declining interest in farming within Japan.
