As an Australian provider of certification programs, Freshcare is undertaking an industry-wide review of their standards including Food, Safety and Quality, Environmental and Sustainability for Wine and Viticulture.
Freshcare is a not-for-profit organisation owned by industry, operating in the best interests of growers, participating businesses and industry. Which is why all revenue goes directly back into resources, projects and standards development which enable Australian businesses to achieve certification. Freshcare does not receive government or levy funding.
Freshcare CEO, Jane Siebum says, "the opportunity for organisations, businesses and producers to share feedback on our Standard's, fosters a collaborative approach to industry and innovation. As the customer and consumer demands change both domestically and internationally, industry must adapt and innovate. Feedback, input and ideas from stakeholders at every level and stage of horticulture, wine production and supply chains is critical, if we want to achieve the best outcomes for Australian producers now and into the future."
"Freshcare has listened to participants, peak industry bodies and those invested in our industry and we're providing multiple channels for feedback and ideas on how to further develop our Standards and improve accessibility," says Siebum.
The maintenance and review process of the Freshcare standards, is undertaken by the Freshcare Operations Team, with Board appointed, volunteer, specialist members of the Technical Steering Committee (TSC).
Chairperson of the TSC and Freshcare Director Graham McAlpine, says many industry stakeholders don't realise the Standards Review is an opportunity to give direct feedback to the TSC.
"Freshcare has a mandate to continually maintain and improve our standards, to ensure they continue to be practical and meet market access and regulatory requirements. The TSC is comprised of highly experienced individuals, who not only bring expert industry knowledge to the review but are also passionate about improving outcomes for growers and their supply chain partners," says McAlpine.
