With a total of 14,085 million dollars, Mexico's agri-food exports reached a new maximum in the first quarter of 2024.
In the accumulated period from January to March 2024, an increase in exports was recorded, this is mainly a result of the strong international demand for products such as beer, berries and avocado. Total exports of the sector increased by 6.3% compared to the same period of 2023. The value of imports of the Mexican agri-food sector was 10,927 million dollars, showing a drop of 0.6% compared to the accumulated figure of March 2023. Mexico has a good performance in agri-food trade, and reports a surplus of 3,158 million dollars (39.5%).
Beer, berries, avocados and tomatoes
The product with the greatest export, considering the accumulated from March 2023 to March 2024, is beer with a value of 1,424 million dollars. This represents a 7.8% increase. In second place are berries with sales abroad of 1,403 million dollars, showing an increase of 11.2%. Avocados are placed in third position with 985 million dollars and a growth of 19.6 percent. Despite a decrease of 4.9%, with 876 million dollars, tomato is in fourth place.
