HarvestEye, a machine-learning driven crop insights tool, has announced a distributorship agreement in Scotland with Agricar, an agricultural and machinery supplier. This partnership aims to advance HarvestEye's presence in the Scottish grower, packer, and processor market, particularly ahead of the harvesting season. Agricar will distribute the HarvestEye 2.0 and HarvestEye Handheld systems, technologies designed to attach to harvesting or grading equipment, providing cost-effective, accurate measurements of potatoes and onions' size, shape, and variability through an online portal and daily reports.
Harry Tinson, general manager at HarvestEye, emphasized Agricar's extensive experience and its significance in addressing the challenges Scottish farmers face, enhancing the visibility and accessibility of HarvestEye units for precision potato harvesting. The HarvestEye Handheld version, introduced earlier this year, enables pre-harvest crop counting and sizing through a tablet device, leveraging the system's data insights.
Derek Johnston, director at Agricar, highlighted the complementary nature of HarvestEye to Agricar's existing product range, focusing on potato machinery and GPS products. He pointed out the potential of HarvestEye to provide potato growers with timely, accurate harvest information, facilitating more efficient transactions with buyers and packhouses.
