Advances in artificial intelligence are poised to drive a "massive" boom in online grocery deliveries, according to the head of Picnic, a Dutch app-only supermarket rapidly expanding into Germany and France. The firm already uses AI for a vast range of operations, explained CEO Michiel Muller, 59, at the firm's 43,000-square-metre distribution hub in Utrecht, central Netherlands. A Scottish broccoli crisps manufacturer is set for growth as it enters multiple major supermarket chains, having secured £510,000 worth of funding. Growers Garden, based in Cupar, produces flavoured crisps from locally-sourced 'wonky' vegetables that would otherwise go to waste. The funding from HSBC UK will be used to increase the storage capacity three-fold, allowing the facility to accommodate the half-a-million units of stock necessary to supply its new supermarket customers.
